Services offered by M-Power

email Support Some men find talking about their abuse either on the telephone or in person can be very difficult.

MPower offers an email support service free of charge for male survivors of rape and childhood sexual abuse, their family members and their partners.

Many men email us because they just don't know who to turn to. They need to get it off their chest, and find that by writing it down in an email, they can find some comfort or start to make sense of the feelings that are going on inside. Sometimes they just need to do that and do not expect or require any response. The act of writing it down is sufficient for the time being. If you feel like this, you can be confident that an MPower counsellor will read your email with understanding and respect for you. He will not force you to enter into a dialogue if you make it clear that you don't wish to do this.

But we have a number of men who do like to enter into an email dialogue with us because it helps them to work through the things that are going on for them. These may be worries and concerns about their abuse, the after-effects or how they are managing their lives today. Whatever the issue, please feel confident that an MPower counsellor will hear you and will not force you to talk about anything you do not wish to. Many men find it difficult to cope alone and they have no-one else who they feel comfortable sharing their stuff with.

MPower is there when you want to express your feelings or emotions or you just want to talk about your experience. Sometimes, just writing things down can be a very free-ing experience.

We also receive emails from partners and family members of men who have been raped, sexually assaulted or abused either in adult life or in childhood. Sometimes it can be just as difficult for partners (both male and female) to manage the feelings and emotions they experience when seeing their loved ones in distress. We are here for you too.
