Have
you been exposed to HIV or other Sexual Diseases?
|
Some victims of rape or a sexual assualt are concerned that
they may have been exposed to HIV or other Sexually transmitted diseases
(STIs).
We are not medical doctors at Mpower so we are not able to
discuss these matters with you but we consider that it is important that you
seek medical assistance.
You can find lots of information on HIV and STIs from the
Terrence Higgins Trust website (www.tht.org.uk).
Most towns have a sexual health clinic (sometimes called a
GUM clinic) attached to the local NHS hospital. You may be examined and treated
there free of charge and in confidence (and annonymously if you
wish).
We strongly recommend that you get checked out at a
specialist clinic if you think there is the possibility that you have been
exposed to HIV or STIs during your attack.
Although we are not able to discuss medical issues with you,
we are here for you if you want to talk through your concerns about the
possibility of being exposed to sexually transmitted diseases.
