Volunteers needed
Our counselling and support services are
provided by volunteers and we need more in order to offer our existing services
to clients and to extend the services we provide. You can get an idea of the
range of services we offer by browsing this website.
You can commit to offer whatever amount of time is convenient for you. A day a
week, half a day a week, or a few hours here and there is all helpful. Our
office is based in central Norwich, and this is where most of the clients
attend. We also provide counselling and support services in Great Yarmouth and
Thetford.
We are looking for men and women who are non-judgemental,
who have respect and understanding, and demonstrate integrity for their fellow
human beings. You must be comfortable working with men who have been physically
and/or sexually abused. Above all, you must be able to listen with respect for
your client.
We need support workers to assist in supporting clients, staffing the helpline,
for answering emails and for assisting with the running of the operation.
You do not need any special qualifications or experience to be a support worker
as we will provide extensive training and ongoing assessment and development.
To be considered for the counselling work we do with our
clients, you must be qualified to at least Diploma level in counselling or be
studying towards such a qualification and seeking a placement. Specialist
training will also be provided for new counsellors. This is a 5-day intensive
course and is mandatory for all new volunteers. You would not be able to start
working with our clients until you have undertaken this training.
The course runs twice a year, in Spring and in Autumn, and
takes place on Saturdays at our office in Norwich. The next training course
starts on 6 April 2013.
If you are interested, or think that you may be and would
like to talk it over with us, please contact us either by
email
or during normal office hours on 01603 622406
